Dachigam National Park is located 22 kilometers from Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir which is home for various rare species like himalayan black bear etc.
How to reach: Srinagar airport is almost 32 km. from the park and Jammu (315 km.) is the most convenient railhead.
Stay: If you are serious wildlife photographer i would advice you to book a hotel nearby dachigam national park which ranges from 2000 rupees which 2-3 people can share.
Species available: Musk deer(roose kat), Leopard, Himalayan serow, Himalayan grey langur,Kashmir stag (hangul), Leopard cat, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan brown bear, Jackal, Hill fox, Himalayan weasel, Yellow-throated marten, Jungle cat, Long-tailed marmot
How to get entry: Exploring dachingam national park require special permission from j&K forest department which is located in-front of dal lake.
About the naturalist: Mr. Nazir Malik is the senior naturalist from the park and he will guide you to explore.

best season: Best time to visit is between April and October and has something to offer in every season. Usually September/October is also a good time for sighting the Himalayan Black Bear which feeds up on the remaining walnuts and acorns fruits, building up fat for its long hibernation.
